Since established in 2011, CCC-ITB is responsible to conduct research and development in the fields of science basis, mitigation, and adaptation of climate change both in local, national, and international levels. The establishment was formalized by the Decision of the ITB Rector No. 267/SK/K01/OT/2010. The ITB is a leading state university in Indonesia, which the Statuta is under the Regulation of the Government of Indonesia No. 65 Year 2013.
CCC-ITB’s vision is to be the central and foremost center in climate change field and able to provide mitigation and adaptation solutions, through scientific, technology and policy approaches, to develop integrated climate change policy and financing.
The Center’s contributions to Indonesia’s climate policy landscape are among others, the Indonesian Climate Change Sectoral Roadmap (ICCSR) provided to the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) through cooperation with GIZ; formerly GTZ), the National Action Plan on Climate Change Adaptation (RAN-API) led by the Bappenas, supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in 2012-2014, followed by the review of the RAN-API, supported by USAID, JICA, and Ministry of Environment Japan in 2017-2018. More recently, CCC-ITB also contributed to the Integrated Water Resource Assessment towards planning of regional water supply in Indonesia, supported by the World Bank in 2018.
CCC-ITB has extensive experience working with various International Organizations and has been providing advice to various National, Regional and Local Governmental Agencies in Indonesia, e.g. the Ministry of Environmental and Forestry, the National Agency for Planning and Development, the Ministry of Public Works and Settlement, the Ministry of Agrarian and Spatial Planning in various provinces and cities in Indonesia. CCC-ITB has also an experience working with the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Republic of Timor Leste, supported by UNDP-Timor Leste and GEF.
